The Jackson Family Values

An interview was aired in 1993, shortly after Michael’s interview with Oprah. In it, Katherine, Joseph, Jermaine, Randy and Rebbie make every effort to appear supportive of Michael. However, what at first appears to be a demonstration of strong family unity, quickly unravels to reveal a family that is fragmented. The interview reveals that Jermaine wrote a song for Michael called “Word To The Badd”, whose original lyrics are quite scathing and reflective of his frustration and not being able to communicate with his brother. Asked by the interviewer... »

Latoya Jackson’s Marriage Becomes a Danger Zone

www.people.com Vol. 39 No. 17 | May 03, 1993 Triumph in the spotlight is a Jackson family tradition. But it is more often scandal that thrusts LaToya, the brood’s odd sister out, into the public eye. Now the rebel who posed nude in Playboy, married her ex-con manager and exposed family secrets in a tell-all best-seller, has sadly turned victim. Police, summoned on April 20 to the plush two-bedroom Manhattan apartment that the singer, 36, shares with husband Jack Gordon, 54, arrested Gordon for allegedly kicking LaToya and beating her... »

Joe Jackson says he believes Dr. Conrad Murray is “a fall guy” in a conspiracy and that Michael was murdered. He appeared on Larry King Live on Monday night, just hours after sitting in a courtroom to hear Murray plead not guilty to a single charge of involuntary manslaughter in his son’s death last year. “I was looking for justice, and justice, to me, would be a murder charge…to me, he’s just a fall guy…there’s other people, I think, involved with this whole thing.” Joe Jackson told King. Here’s the interview in... »

A Father’s Example

In this taped telephone conversation, Michael talks about being privy, from a very young age, to his father’s blatantly philandering ways and the burden he felt at having to keep the latter’s countless indiscretions a secret from his mother. He also speaks about his brothers and how they followed their father’s example by also having many dalliances with fans. Growing up in this environment, Michael was deeply affected by the way the men in his family treated women. On one occasion, he even begged a young girl not to have sex... »

Tom Joyner from Ebony magazine conducted an exclusive interview with Michael on the set of the Beat It video: The ‘tudor castle’ Tom refers to is Hayvenhurst, the Encino estate Michael’s parents, Joseph and Katherine, had bought for the family to live in. In 1981, Joseph was experiencing financial trouble due to some failed business ventures. He needed some cash and so he sold Michael half the estate’s equity for $500,000. Joe and Katherine retained ownership of the other half. Eventually, Joe also sold... »

Hearing Of Joe’s Testimony Set For May

Joe Jackson’s lawyer Brian Oxman was in a Los Angeles court yesterday where a judge set May 26 as the date he will hear testimony in Joe Jackson’s request for a monthly allowance from his son’s estate. Joe said he depended on his son’s financial support for years before his death. The executors of Michael’s estate, lawyer John Branca and former music executive John McClain, contend that Joe has not shown how he was “actually dependent” on Michael. The estate lawyers said the expenses Joe Jackson wants covered by the estate;... »

Joe Jackson Refused Financial Support

Last week we posted a letter that lawyers for Michael’s estate sent Joe’s lawyers as a response to his request that all Michael’s health reports be made available to him. Michael’s lawyers rejected this request, deeming it irrelevant to Joe’s actual claim for financial support from his son’s estate. It has just emerged that Joe’s claim has been refused, having failed to convince the court to pay him a monthly allowance from his son’s fortune. Lawyers for Michael’s estate argued they should not have to pay Joe a reported $15,000 monthly... »

Joe Jackson Seeks Financial Support

By Polly

In December, Joe Jackson subpoenaed medical and other records from the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where Michael was pronounced dead on June 25, stating he believed the records could reveal evidence of foul play in Michael’s death. Michael’s estate lawyer, Howard Weitzman, sent a letter to Brian Oxman, Joe’s lawyer, calling the subpoenas “clearly improper”, stating that not only do they violate Michael’s privacy but also bear no relation to Joe’s actual claim. A closer look at Weitzman’s letter reveals that Joe’s real motive for the subpoenas is financial... »
