Michael Jackson’s 30th Anniversary Special
In November 2001, CBS aired a two-hour special in honor of Michael Jackson’s thirtieth year as a solo entertainer. The special was composed of footage of two separate concerts Michael performed in September at Madison Square Garden in New York which sold out in a matter of hours. The best seats cost $5,000 and included a dinner with Michael, who reportedly earned a total of $15 million for both concerts. The Chitlin’ Circuit
Before they were discovered, Michael Jackson and his brothers regularly performed on the Chitlin’ Circuit, the collective name given to the string of performance venues throughout the eastern and southern United States that were safe and acceptable for African American entertainers to perform during the age of racial segregation in the United States. The Jackson Five’s Motown Audition Tape
In July 1968, The Jackson Five performed at Chicago’s High Chaparral Club as an opening act for a group called Bobby Taylor and The Vancouvers. After watching their performance, Bobby Taylor called Ralph Seltzer, head of Motown’s creative department, to suggest The Jackson Five audition for Motown. Doubtful because of their young age, Seltzer was initially reluctant to see the boys perform. The Dome Project

Little is publicly known about the production, but its existence has been confirmed by two knowledgeable sources who spoke to The Associated Press on condition they not be identified because they signed confidentiality agreements. Michael Jackson has won four American Music Awards. This means he has now won more AMA’s than any other artist. The four awards, presented at the 37th Annual ceremony in Los Angeles, also mean Jackson has received the highest number of posthumous awards for any artist. He won “Favorite Pop/Rock Artist,” “Favorite Pop/Rock Album,” “Favorite Male Soul/R&B artist,” and “Favorite Male Soul/R&B Album”.
